Converticle

About Converticle

Converticle is a free online tool for converting text between the markup formats developers and technical writers juggle every day: Markdown, HTML, AsciiDoc, Slack mrkdwn, and Jira wiki markup.

Why it exists

Anyone who writes documentation, posts to Slack, and files Jira tickets knows the drill: the same snippet of formatted text needs to exist in three different markup dialects, and each tool renders the other tools' syntax as garbage. Rewriting formatting by hand is tedious and error-prone. Converticle does the translation instantly โ€” paste in one format, pick another, copy the result.

Your text stays on your device

Every conversion happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The text you paste is never uploaded, stored, or logged โ€” there is no server-side processing at all. You can verify this yourself: the site is open source on GitHub, and the page keeps working for conversions even if you go offline after it loads.

What powers it

  • Marked parses Markdown to HTML.
  • DOMPurify sanitizes every piece of generated HTML.
  • Turndown converts HTML back to Markdown.
  • Asciidoctor.js renders AsciiDoc.
  • Purpose-built converters handle Slack mrkdwn and Jira wiki markup.

The site is built with SvelteKit and served as a static site from Cloudflare's edge network.

Learn the formats

Beyond the converter itself, the conversion guides document how each format pair maps โ€” syntax tables, worked examples, and the edge cases where formats simply don't line up.
